How to properly care for your headband
How wonderful that you treated your child to one of my handmade headbands!
I know how important it is that things in a mom's everyday life are not only pretty, but also practical and durable .
Therefore, here are a few tips on how I care for my headbands.
Sometimes, after washing, the headband can appear stretched out . The upper part (with the elastic band) behaves slightly differently during washing than the lower part (without elastic). This can lead to uneven tension , especially when wet.
But don't worry!
After drying, gentle ironing and re-tying, the headband fits normally again and hugs the body nicely.
Detangle before washing
This ensures that the tension is distributed evenly during washing - this protects the seams and the rubber and everything stays in better shape.
Wash - but please with care
Gentle cycle at 30°C, ideally in a laundry bag to prevent tangling or stretching. Do not tumble dry (the heat can damage the elastic and unnecessarily stress the fabric). Also, please avoid using fabric softener, as this can affect the elasticity.
After washing: Air dry & iron
I always dry the headbands lying flat. This helps them keep their shape. Then I iron the headband on medium heat and re-tie the knot.
